Ireland

Alive and well in Ireland! I don't know what they speak here but it's definitely not English. Went to probably the only Anglican church on Sunday by mistake. Oops. Cliffs of Moher yesterday. Limited internet access but I'll be posting a ton when I get home. Ireland's an interesting place.

In a few days!

l'Irland

By the time that you will be able to read this, I will be on my way to Ireland! Devan and I are finally taking our first trip outside of France to visit friends who are studying in Galway. We will be spending about a week there and are really looking forward to visiting another part of Europe, and especially being able to speak our native language.

After going to see the crown of thorns this morning at Notre Dame (visit number 10...), we spent our last night in Paris before break with our French friends at a cafe after their class. I love hanging out with them because they are just so hysterical and so much fun.

This break has come so quickly but I'm excited it's here - and from here until May, we have almost no other weekends in Paris. It's really unbelievable.

I'm not taking my laptop to Ireland so I probably won't be making any long posts, and pictures will definitely have to wait until next week, but I'll try to update as much as possible! Our friends we are staying with have internet so I'm sure they'll be willing to let us use their computers a little bit for email and whatnot.
Until next time, passez un bon week-end et semaine!

le 23 février

Matt and Nico!

The alter looked different...

Caricature artists are all over Paris, like other big cities, and just like in other cities, they're a perfect tourist trap. The man said he liked Matt's smile so he'd draw them for free, then when he finished the picture (which was pretty bad) he told them he normally charges 20 euro and told them just to give him everything they had. That part was even more entertaining than the picture.

The finished product.

The interior of the Louvre Pyramid in daylight.

Outside of the Louvre at night. Absolutely enchanting.

Between the two towers on the roof at Notre Dame, on our way up.

This is before the stairs got steeper and narrower.

The view from Notre Dame. It's truly breathtaking.

Passageway to the south tower. Claustrophobic be warned.

Still between the towers, not at the top.

Tiny doors to the bell tower. It was so much fun! I felt like an enchanted little kid. And I also felt like I was in Disney's "The Hunchback of Notre Dame." Didn't see Quazimotto or Esmeralda, though. Bummer.

Stairs to the bell tower.

So loud! ;)

The doors from the inside of the bell tower.

Finally at the very top of the tower! (pictured here is the top of the north tower)

Looking down over the city.

A little wobbly.

 Statues of the apostles.
